Biography
John B. Hawley (1831-1895) was a steadfast public servant whose life intersected with the many civic initiatives of his era. Though he moved through different responsibilities, he always held firm to the belief that engaged citizens could sustain the communities they loved.
Hawley maintained an interest in local affairs until his final days, offering mentorship and encouragement to younger leaders who followed. He is interred at Prospect Hill Cemetery, a place of honor for Omaha's early contributors.
