Biography

John Bailey was born in 1730 and lived through the pivotal decades of American independence and early nation-building. He maintained his residence in the Hanover area throughout his long life, witnessing the transformation of the colonies into a sovereign nation.

Bailey's eighty years of life provided him with a unique perspective on the dramatic changes that reshaped the American landscape. He was interred in Hanover Center Cemetery, where he rests among the community he called home for so many years.
