Biography

Jonathan Freeman lived for sixty-three years, from 1745 to 1808, during the pivotal era of American independence and nation-building. Born in the waning years of colonial rule, he witnessed the Revolution and the establishment of the United States, contributing to his community in Hanover throughout these transformative decades. His life reflected the experiences of those who helped shape the new republic.

Freeman's memory is preserved in the Hanover Center Cemetery, where he was laid to rest in 1808.
