John Baker White

Biography

John Baker White, born in 1794, was known among his neighbors for steady leadership and civic engagement in Hampshire County, Virginia. In the turbulent years before the conflict, he balanced responsibilities as a local official with the demands of raising a family.

White died in 1862 and today rests in Hollywood Cemetery. His long life and sense of duty earned him the respect of the community he served through peace and upheaval alike.
