Biography

James Ewell Brown Stuart, known as J.E.B. Stuart, was a renowned Confederate cavalry general celebrated for his military prowess and daring reconnaissance missions during the Civil War. Born in Virginia, Stuart became one of the most trusted commanders under General Robert E. Lee, earning the nickname "The Eyes of the Army" for his crucial intelligence gathering. His bold tactics and leadership made him a legendary figure in Confederate military history.

Stuart's life was cut short when he was mortally wounded during the Battle of Yellow Tavern in 1864, at the age of thirty-one. His death was a significant loss to the Confederate cause and deeply affected General Lee. Stuart was honored with burial at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia, where he is remembered as one of the Civil War's most brilliant and charismatic military leaders.
