John Duer

Biography

John Duer (1782–1852) was a lawyer and politician who served his community and nation during the early decades of American independence. His dual career in law and politics reflected the intellectual engagement and civic commitment of the educated classes of his era, as he worked to shape the institutions and governance of the young republic.

He was interred at Trinity Church Cemetery, a burial ground befitting his status as a man of law and public service, where his memory is preserved among other notable figures of his generation.
