Biography

John Findley Wallace devoted his life to the planning and oversight of vital engineering projects, bringing practical skill to work with the United States Army Corps of Engineers before taking on global challenges. He was appointed chief engineer for the Panama Railroad Company and later was among the American engineers who attempted to tame the Panama Canal zone.

Wallace’s professionalism during trying assignments earned him respect among peers, and he remained committed to sharing his experience with the next generation of engineers. His legacy is reflected in the infrastructure that continued to benefit trade and expansion long after his passing.
