Biography

John Griswold White built a prosperous legal career and used his wealth to amass a world-class collection of rare books and manuscripts.

He bequeathed that collection to the people of Cleveland, establishing the White Collection at the Public Library and leaving a legacy of scholarship honored at Lake View Cemetery.
