John Henry Caldwell

Biography

John Henry Caldwell, born in 1826 in Alabama, practiced law and held local offices before representing his state in Congress during the difficult years of Reconstruction, where he worked on measures to stabilize regional finances and ensure fair representation.

After leaving Washington he continued to advise younger lawyers, championed educational initiatives, and returned home to be laid to rest in Jacksonville City Cemetery.
