John Horace Forney

Biography

John Horace Forney, born in 1829, graduated from West Point and commanded Confederate troops in the Western Theater, including the Vicksburg and Atlanta campaigns, earning recognition for his leadership in difficult engagements.

In later years he engaged with veteran affairs and local civic causes, sharing lessons from his military career before passing and being interred in Jacksonville City Cemetery.
