Biography

John J. Neimore was born in 1862 and became a pioneering voice for African American Angelenos, founding the California Eagle to speak honestly about injustice and to celebrate courage, resilience, and the everyday joys of his community.

He mentored young journalists, championed civic engagement, and left a legacy of compassion, now remembered by loved ones as he rests at Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery.
