Biography

John J. Perry devoted his life to the service of Maine and his fellow citizens. A learned man of the law, he brought calm judgment to the practice of his profession and to the deliberations of the state legislature in which he represented his community.

Throughout his long life he remained a steady presence in civic affairs, taking satisfaction in the quiet progress of his town and the welfare of his neighbors. When he was laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in 1897, those who knew him remembered a thoughtful public servant whose guiding hand helped steady the course of his state.
