Biography
John Mellus earned All-America honors as a lineman at Villanova before playing professional football in the late 1930s and 1940s, including stints with the New York Giants. He was recognized for his strength, toughness, and leadership on the field during a formative era of the National Football League.
After his playing days he remained involved in his community and honored the camaraderie of his teammates, and he was laid to rest at Baltimore National Cemetery, where friends and family remember his dedication to sport and service.
