Biography

William E. Caswell made major contributions to theoretical physics through research on quantum field theory and renormalization, mentoring students and colleagues with clarity and enthusiasm. His work, much of it carried out at the University of Virginia, helped clarify the behavior of strong interactions and guided computational approaches in particle physics.

Colleagues praised his generosity and dedication to education, as he continued to support physics outreach and research initiatives until his passing. He was laid to rest at Baltimore National Cemetery, remembered for a lifetime spent advancing scientific understanding.
