Biography
John S. Casement, a Union brigadier general who led troops through critical campaigns before turning his talents toward railroad building, played a vital role in the completion of the Union Pacific line and in opening the West to commerce.
He continued to serve the public interest after the war, lending his organizational gifts to civic improvements and sharing the discipline of his military experience with the Evergreen Cemetery community.
