Biography
John Wesley Turner, born in 1833, served with distinction as a Union officer during the Civil War, participating in critical campaigns and later applying his engineering skills to rebuilding efforts. His leadership extended beyond the battlefield, as he guided troops with a steady hand and ensured supply lines and fortifications were maintained.
After the war he remained engaged in public life, always attentive to the needs of veterans and the growth of the nation, and after his death in 1899 he was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of service that transcended conflict.
