Biography

Pierre Chouteau Jr. was born in 1789 into a prominent family with deep roots in the American fur trade. As a fur trader and businessman, he played a significant role in the commercial development of the American frontier during the nineteenth century, building upon the legacy established by his family in the Missouri River trade.

Chouteau died in 1865 and was interred at Calvary Cemetery. His business acumen and connections helped shape the economic landscape of the American West during a critical period of expansion and development, leaving a lasting impact on the region's commercial history.
