Biography
Jonathan Mason was born in 1756 and witnessed the birth of the American nation from his vantage point in New England. His long life spanned the Revolutionary War, the founding of the republic, and the early decades of American independence, during which he contributed to the intellectual and civic life of his community.
Mason was a respected figure in Boston and the surrounding region, and he was ultimately laid to rest at Mount Auburn Cemetery, one of America's most distinguished burial grounds.
