Biography

Joseph Bennett earned fame at the billiards table, mastering English billiards with a finesse that delighted spectators and rivals alike. He travelled across Britain to compete, popularising the sport and helping to codify its rules for a growing community of players.

His calm concentration and sportsmanship made him a beloved figure, and he later mentored younger cueists while advocating for clubs that welcomed amateurs; he now rests in Brompton Cemetery beside admirers of his art.
