Biography
Joseph Hamilton Lambert was among Oregon's earliest orchardists, planting trees along the Willamette River and pioneering irrigation techniques that produced abundant cherries, prunes, and apples for the young state.
He freely shared his expertise through horticultural societies, mentorship, and careful record keeping, and the famous Lambert cherry—still grown today—bears witness to his patience and experimentation.
