Biography

Rodney Glisan came to the Pacific Northwest after completing his medical training on the East Coast and became one of Portland’s earliest practicing physicians. He brought a steady hand and attentive care to settlers and newcomers alike, helping to establish standards of public health and medical instruction in the growing city.

Throughout his career he was admired not only for his skill but for his calm counsel in trying times, leaving a legacy of service that endures in the River View Cemetery and in the community he tended for decades.
