Joseph M. Gazzam

Biography

Joseph M. Gazzam (1842–1927) watched his hometown grow in scale and ambition and did what he could to ensure that growth did not eclipse the courtesy and decency of everyday life. He offered his time, when able, to causes that benefitted his peers and insisted on fairness when making decisions that affected others.

Allegheny Cemetery preserves his memory alongside countless others whose lives gave shape to this city, and whose influence still lingers in the neighborhoods they loved.
