Biography

Joseph Reid Anderson rose from humble beginnings to build Tredegar Iron Works into one of the South’s great industrial enterprises, supplying munitions and infrastructure while using his talents to keep Richmond’s foundries running even in the most trying times.

After the war he devoted himself to restoring what had been lost, lending his leadership to civic life in the capital and helping the city recover through steady industrial stewardship.
