Jules Marcou

Biography

Born in Switzerland, Jules Marcou brought European rigor to the geological surveys of North America, producing detailed maps of the Rocky Mountains, the Great Plains, and the Pacific coast.

A frequent traveler between Europe and America, he shared his findings through lectures and publications, helping to knit together geological knowledge on both sides of the Atlantic.
