Biography
Karl Landsteiner, born in 1868, devoted his brilliant scientific mind to unraveling the mysteries of the human body, ultimately identifying the major blood groups and laying the foundations for safe transfusions. His groundbreaking work in immunology and pathology earned him the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1930 and ensured lives could be saved around the world.
He is interred at Prospect Hill Cemetery, and the scientific and humanitarian contributions he made continue to be honored to this day.
