Biography

Károly Bodoki, born in 1814, devoted his skills as a hydraulic engineer to taming the waters of the southern plains, designing canals and sluices that protected farmland near Gyula from seasonal floods.

He shared his knowledge with younger engineers and municipal leaders, helping to modernize rural infrastructure so that communities along the Körös and Berettyó rivers could rely on steadier harvests.
