Louise Weber, known around the world as La Goulue, burst onto the Parisian scene in 1886 with a vivacious spirit that defined the birth of the Cancan and the Belle Époque cabaret. Her partnership with the Moulin Rouge made her a symbol of joyous rebellion, and her daring style captured the imagination of artists, writers, and patrons alike.

In later years she remained connected to the dance community, encouraging younger performers and safeguarding the exuberance that once made her the toast of Montmartre, a legacy now commemorated beside the graves of her peers.
