Biography
Lemuel Mathewson built a life around the United States Army and the ideals of West Point, serving in a variety of command and staff posts that emphasized the Academy's standards of honor and duty. His work helped shape the training regimens that prepared forces for both mechanized warfare and diplomatic missions.
Even after his active career, he remained a West Point affiliate, counseling young officers and marking anniversaries of service before resting at the cemetery that honors the Academy's long line of leaders.
