Biography

Leopoldo Figueroa, born in 1887, served Puerto Rico as a legislator and a tireless defender of civil rights, insisting that constitutional protections extend equally to every citizen of the island.

He carried that advocacy through the decades, and when he died in 1969 his steadfast pursuit of equality continued to inspire those who pay respects at Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery.
