Biography
Leslie Compton distinguished himself as one of the few sportsmen to excel on both the football field and the cricket pitch, representing Arsenal and Middlesex with unassuming skill and a deep sense of teamwork. Later he turned his understanding of the game into coaching, guiding young athletes with insight earned from long careers in both codes.
His steady leadership and generosity of spirit were particularly cherished by those who came through the clubs he served, and his influence remained a guiding presence in the years before his passing in 1984.
