Biography
Lloyd Lowndes Jr., born in 1845, rose to serve his state as a politician, including terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and as Governor of Maryland. He guided his constituents through a period of industrial growth while remaining mindful of Maryland’s traditions, earning a reputation for thoughtful leadership.
After his passing in 1905 he was laid to rest in Cumberland, where his efforts to strengthen infrastructure and education keep him in the gratitude of future generations of Marylanders.
