Lt Brook Watson

Biography

Lieutenant Brook Watson was born in 1786 and died in 1817 at the age of thirty-one. As a soldier serving in the military forces of colonial India, he participated in the armed establishment during a critical period of British expansion. He was interred in South Park Street Cemetery, Calcutta, where officers and men of the military were honored in death.

Watson's military service represented the martial commitment of officers who served in India during the early nineteenth century. His burial in South Park Street Cemetery reflects the respect accorded to those who gave their service to the colonial enterprise.
