Biography

Lucien Lee Kinsolving, born in 1862, served as the first bishop of the Missionary District of the Rio Grande, carrying the Episcopal Church’s mission of hospitality into the southwestern reaches of the country.

His thoughtful sermons and steadfast pastoral care forged bridges across cultures, and the communities he shepherded continue to honor his memory with gratitude as he rests at the Virginia Theological Seminary Cemetery.
