Biography

Magnus Miller Murray, born in 1787, opened his eyes as the infant republic struggled to define itself, and he soon turned to trade and commerce to support the growing city along the Allegheny River. His work as a merchant kept goods flowing to frontier families and established a reputation for fair dealing and steadfast resolve in every transaction.

When he passed in 1838, friends and family remembered a loyal neighbor whose diligence helped shape local markets, and he was laid to rest in Allegheny Cemetery among others who served the city's prosperity.
