Biography
Marguerite Clayton became one of the early stars of silent cinema, bringing warmth and courage to the frontier heroines who populated the Western pictures of the 1910s and helping to define the visual language of an emerging art form.
Her graceful performances and easy rapport with casting partners set a standard for professionalism on set, and even in retirement she carried the quiet pride of those pioneering years to her final rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
