Mario Dubsky
1939–1985 (age 46)
Biography
Mario Dubsky pursued painting with restless energy, turning to abstraction as well as figuration to explore the tensions of the modern world, and he studied at Saint Martin's where he joined a young generation of London artists. His canvases often feature layered planes of colour, fragments of figures and references to urban life, creating compositions that feel both intimate and monumental.
He exhibited across Britain and abroad, earning respect for works that combined careful draughtsmanship with intense emotion, and he remained committed to mentoring younger artists even as he confronted illness. Friends remember Dubsky for his generous spirit and for the way his art refused easy answers, instead offering viewers a place to linger.
