Biography

Marshall Jewell climbed from Connecticut commerce to the governor's office, governing from 1871 to 1873 with an eye on fiscal responsibility and the needs of everyday citizens.

After leaving Hartford's top office he served as United States Postmaster General, reshaping postal operations and ensuring Cedar Hill Cemetery became his final resting place.
