Biography

Mary Arkwright (1788-1803) was a young woman whose brief life was cut short at the age of fifteen. Though her years were few, she lived during a period of significant industrial and social change in England, particularly in the Midlands region where her family was established.

Mary's early death represents one of the many tragedies of the era, when mortality among young people remained a common sorrow. Her memory is preserved in the churchyard of her community, a testament to her place in her family and local society.
