Biography
Mary Hunt, born in 1830, became a respected leader in the temperance movement of the late nineteenth century, pressing for scientific temperance instruction in schools and rallying women across the region to moral reform. She was tireless in her efforts to equip young men and women with the information and resolve to live sober, upright lives.
Her resolve in support of sober education left an enduring mark on communities across New England, and she is remembered with gratitude at Forest Hills Cemetery.
