Biography
Max Thorek, a Hungarian-born American surgeon, applied his keen intellect to reconstructive medicine and the emerging field of plastic surgery, championing patient-centered care and rigorous training for physicians worldwide.
He founded the International College of Surgeons and other institutions to promote collaborative research and remained a prolific writer and photographer long into his later years, leaving a legacy of humanitarianism whose calm strength is commemorated at Rosehill Cemetery.
