Moncure Robinson Taylor (1851–1915) was born into a nation still grappling with sectional strife, and he came of age during the fragile years of Reconstruction, carrying forward quiet devotion to family and community life in Monticello.

He lived with an openhearted sense of duty, giving his neighbors reliable support through the turn of the century, and now rests in Monticello Graveyard alongside those who shared his steady spirit.
