Biography
Morris Michael Edelstein, raised in New York City, educated in the local public schools, and trained as a lawyer, devoted his career to representing the needs of his Brooklyn neighbors. He served in the State Assembly and later won election to the United States House of Representatives, where he lent his sharp mind to the concerns of laborers and immigrant families.
He was known for his readiness to listen to working people, championing fair wages and housing while maintaining a dignity befitting his office, until his untimely passing in 1941; he now rests at Mount Zion Cemetery, honored for his earnest public service.
