Biography

Mortimer Dormer Leggett was an Ohio-born lawyer and soldier whose leadership in the Union Army during the Civil War earned him praise for his steadiness amid the fiercest battles of the Western Theater.

After the war he returned to public service, guiding veterans’ relief efforts and supporting civic causes in Ohio, and he is remembered among the citizens interred at Lake View Cemetery.
