Moshe Weinberg
1939–1972 (age 33)
Wrestling Coach/Athlete
Biography
Moshe Weinberg devoted himself to wrestling from a young age, becoming a national champion whose quiet determination inspired students across the country. After his competitive years he became a beloved coach, guiding Israel’s athletes with patience, technical skill, and an unshakeable belief in teamwork and honor.
His life was tragically cut short in 1972, when, in the face of terror at the Munich Olympic Games, he demonstrated extraordinary courage while protecting his team. In remembering him we honor a mentor whose warmth, resilience, and selflessness continue to motivate wrestlers and coaches alike.
