Biography
Moyshe-Leyb Halpern arrived from Galicia and became one of the leading voices of the Yiddish modernists, his poetry pulsing with the restless longing of urban immigrants.
He spent his final years in Chicago sharing readings, mentoring younger poets, and leaving behind a body of work whose spare lyricism still speaks to the heart of Mount Carmel Cemetery.
