Biography

Myeongheon (1831–1903) was a consort of the Joseon royal court who lived through one of the most transformative periods in Korean history. Her life at court reflected the traditions and responsibilities of royal consorts during the late Joseon and early modern period.

Myeongheon's long life allowed her to witness significant historical changes in Korea. Her memory is honored at Gyeongneung, a testament to her place within the royal family and her role in the cultural and social history of Joseon Korea.
