Nadezhda Kartashevskaya (1793–1887) lived through nearly a century of Russian history, witnessing the transformative events of the nineteenth century from the Napoleonic Wars through the reign of Alexander III. Her long life spanned the full arc of Imperial Russia's development during one of its most dynamic periods.

Kartashevskaya's memory is preserved in the records of Tikhvin Cemetery, where she was laid to rest after a remarkable lifespan that extended into her ninety-fourth year. She represents the continuity of Russian society across generations of profound change.
