Biography

Nathaniel Fillmore Sr. was born in 1739 and lived a long life spanning the colonial period through the early years of American independence. As a resident of Bennington, Vermont, he was part of the pioneering generation that helped establish the state and contributed to the development of the young nation.

Fillmore's seventy-five years of life connected him to the formative events of American history and Vermont's early settlement. He was laid to rest in Old Bennington Cemetery, where he rests among the founders and pioneers who shaped the character and legacy of the region.
