Nathaniel Pope

Biography

Nathaniel Pope was born in 1784 and distinguished himself as a judge and politician whose decisions and advocacy influenced the course of the Illinois and Missouri territories.

He was interred at Bellefontaine Cemetery in 1850, where his legacy remains present to those who reflect on the building of civil institutions in the young republic.
