Biography
Samuel Chase (1741–1811) stood among the Founding Fathers as a signer of the Declaration of Independence and later as a Supreme Court justice who ardently defended the liberties secured by the Revolution.
His fearless insistence on the rule of law and on vigilance regarding abuse of power shaped the young nation, and he now rests at Old Saint Paul's Cemetery as testimony to his lifelong devotion.
